St. Cinder began playing to a packed house at the Spirit Room. An enthusiastic crowd listened attentively as these talented young musicians wove their way through Ragtime, Blues and Swing numbers from the 20’s and 30’s. The Spirit Room enjoys featuring bands who are eclectic and fun!
Please join us for Dog of the Moon & his pack on NYE !!! A local favorite full of badass original tunes as well as favorite old covers Moondog always delivers a festive time.
The Sugar Thieves have a sultry blues roots foundation and powerhouse delta sound that will take you back in time. They also come equipped with a fresh new style, high-energy showmanship, and an original song list that brings music enthusiasts of any age, to their feet to shake that meat! The Sugar Thieves won the Phoenix Blues Society’s Arizona State Blues
Competition this year, for the third time. In 2008 and 2009, The Sugar Thieves won and went on to compete in the International Blues Challenge in Memphis (Feb. 2009/Jan. 2010) where they were voted one of the top ten unsigned blues bands in the world in 09, and won the “People’s Choice” award at the Old Daisy Theater in 2010. This Jan. 2013, The Sugar Thieves will be competing in Memphis once again, and are ready to take it all home.
The Sugar Thieves were also voted best Americana band in 2009 by the Phoenix New Times’
“Summer of Sound Series”, and were nominated for Best Local Band in Phoenix as well. The singular vision that drives this band is their plight to reintroduce what some call a dying genre, blues music, to younger generations and those that have simply forgotten. But don’t think you’ve heard anything like it before. The Thieves put on a show that’s worth writing home about.
A high octane Rockabilly-Country-Punk band from Jerome, Az.
Nathan Payne & the Wild Bores is an all-original 4-piece rockabilly band from Jerome, Arizona, consisting of former decker. bassist Brett L. Graham, Gabe Rhodes on drums, singer/multi-instrumentalist Tara Lynn Walrus, and Payne himself, who sings & writes most of the material. In support of their new EP Rural Mortis, Nathan Payne & the Wild Bores have summer tours of Colorado & the West Coast lined up, in addition to local & regional shows in Las Vegas, Southern California, and Arizona. Wild, enigmatic, and raw, Nathan Payne & the Wild Bores put on a show that can’t be beat. Don’t miss it!
A great weekend is in store at the Spirit Room:
Tonight from 9 to midnight is OvO featuring Tommy Rocks of Jerome on lead vocals, acoustic and electric guitars, Dr. Kyle Scarborough from Dallas on keys and guitar phenom Joe Berger of New York City on lead guitar.
And this year’s show brings an added treat: the rhythm section will feature Steve Botterweg on drums and vocals and Mike Klien on bass, guitar and vocals. Both are from Llory McDonald’s band Combo Deluxe. You won’t want to miss this show, and watch this great band back Joe Berger on guitar.
Local favorite Combo Deluxe will be rocking the house with Llory McDonald’s wit and charm thrown in for good measure. This Saturday and Sunday they will be playing from 2 to 6.
Saturday evening we have some Reggae ‘Mon. Put on your dancing shoes and come on by to listen to Sol Tribe from 9 to midnight.
We have an amazing lineup today at the Spirit Room. From 2 to 5 this afternoon we have Grant Ferguson.
“Propulsive, melodic rock guitar in the hands of Grant Ferguson is a powerful reminder of the
instrument’s glory days. Influenced by some of the great axe masters: Jeff Beck, Gary Moore, The Edge
and others, Ferguson is pushing his all-instrumental sound toward a new rock vision.”
Then Valley Favorite Jerry Riopelle will be gracing our stage with his favorite local guitar player, Llory McDonald and the rest of the Riopelle band! They played the Orpheum Theater last night in Flagstaff and we’re honored that they are performing for us this evening. There is a $25 cover charge for the Jerry Riopelle show.
