Christy Fisher

Singer/songwriter/ukulele player/seamstress for the band
Christy started her “musical career” at the age of 15, working cleanup for
iconic fashion designer Michael Braun (Sonny and Cher, Prince) and sewing
for legendary musicians and bands such as Jimi Hendrix, Eric Clapton, and
Frank Zappa. “I was a rebel poet, a hippie, and a kid who stole her brother’s
guitar, learned 3 chords and drove my piano teacher crazy banging out
Beatles instead of Beethoven. Here I was hanging around with musicians
after school and getting into clubs underage because it was part of my
“sewing job”…. it was bound to happen. My boyfriend’s band needed a
backup singer, their manager heard me.. and the next thing I knew I was in
a recording studio and signing a contract with Decca…. It was then I found
out about the “industry part of the music business” as they tried to turn me
into a slick little package … long story short: I wouldn’t wear the dress. They
voided the contract…and this rebel was once again free.”
A “lyricist with a soundtrack”, Christy’s musical style is influenced by various
genres: old school R&B, pop bands from the 60s and 70s, and folk.
Christy went on to playing in various rock bands in Florida and Colorado all
while building her own jewelry and clothing design business. She moved to
Jerome in 1990. Always a strong supporter of the arts, she concentrated on
her wearable arts and put her music on the back burner, while continuing
to write songs for “sanity’s sake”.
Then…around Christmas 2014…she was given a ukulele…and
She is now a part of The Jerome Ukulele Orchestra, lead singer for the band
Mountain Stranded Time……..and still creates jewelry and clothing for
everyday rockstars.
